linux-tkg on my Arch Linux system, so I thought, why not try Gentoo? And then for some reason I ended up going with LFS (Linux From Scratch). help meAs we approach the end of semester 1 and enter into the exam period, we’d like to take the time to thank you for being a member and look back on the events we’ve held. Your support for this club, your contribution to our spaces and enthusiasm for Linux has meant we’ve been able to continually push for bigger and better events.
We’d like to share just some of the highlights regarding the club throughout the semester:
There’s been a lot of fuss about Linux in the past couple of months (and years), and it hasn’t exactly come from nowhere. A huge cultural shift has taken place due to the perceived lack of control over the devices we own and use everyday.
Companies such as Microsoft are now seen by some, whether accurately or not, as prioritising their interests to the extreme over the consumer. This has meant the desire for an alternative platform for desktop computing has been slowly growing, and all the while Linux has been making strides to provide a better and better experience for users.

The results are in and Hypersomnia has blown every contender out of the water!
It’s a topdown shooter combining Counter-Strike and Hotline Miami. Originally released in Poland in 2023, but in development for 10 years, this Open Source game is playable on almost every platform you can think of including your browser.

Smashing the competition out of the water, Beyond All Reason was voted as the next game for the club games night. Beyond All Reason is a tactical Sci-Fi strategy game where you must destroy your opponent’s commander to emerge victorious. Beyond All Reason features innovative and unique game mechanics including real-time projectiles and variable terrain to make engagements tactical and troop use thoughtful.
A lot of the members on this site are only members of a single club, or not members at all. Joining is free for all Swinburne students and helps us raise funds for bigger and better events. We encourage everyone to join all of the clubs below, as each one focuses on unique and engaging aspects of Computer Science.
