We’re looking for enthusiastic students to take up the mantle and join the Swinux Committee for the 2026-2027 period, starting October.

If you’re interested in running events and online spaces, hosting social gatherings or persuing academic experiments (an excellent resume booster!) send a message to contact@swinux.org or @swinuxclub via Discord and say hi! Once the committee has a pool of candidates, we will run a short online information session outlining the roles, responsibilities and resources available to the club. This will give you all the resources they need for success in 2027!

In this article, we also hope to shed some light to the state of the club in preparation for the transition of the committee.

Club Resources⌗

The club has several resources ready to go for the 2027 committee. All of this is hosted online and access will be given by the SSA when you are elected. Swinux has:

  • Up to date onboarding documentation for prospective committee members.
  • Event templates for easy to host event creation.
  • Several completed workshops to run each semester.
  • Pre-made easy to edit assets for new events, promotional materials.
  • A plug and play website using dead simple git workflows.
  • Existing code of conduct, mission statement documentation.

What positions can I run for?

There are several positions, such as:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Tech Lead (If a suitable candidate is found.)

How do I join the committee?

You may nominate yourself to a position (or multiple) by informing a current sitting committee member, where members can choose to vote for a particular candidate.

How long am I on the committee?

If elected, you are on the committee for a period of 1 year, starting October.

Are there any requirements to be on the committee?

There is one pre-existing requirement; that you must be a student for the calendar year you reside on the committee.

Committee members are also required to complete short induction modules from the SSA and undergo a free Working With Childrens Check.

How do I run events?

You run events through Rubric, with room hosting done through a Swinburne portal. The SSA and other members will guide you through this.

Does the club get access to funding?

The club does get access to funding from the SSA depending on how many members exist in the calendar year. In addition, Swinux is free to raise funds from merchanise, ticket sales etc. to fund club purchases.

What help can I expect?

You get a direct line of contact to the SSA which can help you with bookings, general queries etc. Swinux is also in a fortunate position where we have lines of communication to other clubs and ex-committee members for current committee members.
