The committee is pleased to announce the continuation of FOSS Game Nights for Semester 1 of 2026.

FOSS Game Nights showcase free, open source games that highlight the best of what the spirit of Open Source has to offer. We encourage everyone to join in the fun as we explore different types of games from various genres. It’s an excellent opportunity to get together and socialise with fellow club members.

Swinburne Event Details

Our next FOSS Game Night is set for Thursday 9th of April, from 8-9PM, hosted on the club Discord.

The votes were tied between Super Tux Kart and Xonotic. We’ve chosen Xonotic as the next game since our previous game night hosted SuperTuxKart.

Xonotic is a fast-paced Arena FPS based off of a heavily modified Quake Engine derivative, the DarkPlaces Engine. It’s gameplay is akin to Unreal Tournament and Quake, perfect for quick, social matches.

We encourage everyone to join in the chill, low-stakes fun as we explore this unique and colourful shooter. You can read more about the game on it’s website:

We’d like to measure attendance for this free event through Rubric, so keep an eye out for when the page goes live. We hope to see you there!

If you’re new to Swinux, you can have a look at our previous events and meetings we’ve held. As always, we’re keen to hear your feedback and input regarding the direction of the club.
